ACCF 2018: Mendocino Mushrooms in Depth
Friday-Sunday, January 19-21, Albion, CA

Registration is now full! Contact us to be added to a wait list.

Join us for our 8th biannual All CA Club Foray! This is an opportunity for dedicated mushroomers and amateur mycologists to go deeper in their studies of California mushrooms. Mendocino is at the very southern edge of the PNW, so we always see an interesting array of species, even during drought years! This foray is designed to be hands-on, for everyone.  Rather than just listen to a talk or watch others ID, you will be hunting a wide variety of mushrooms in local forests, then working cooperatively in our large modern lab, with colleagues and friends, old and new, putting names to fungi, and helping to voucher rare and unusual specimens. You will even have the opportunity to use microscopes, both to make better IDs and just to look at cool examples of life within the myco-micro-world!

The facility itself is extremely comfortable. The Albion Field Station has motel quality lodgings, each with a private bath. Early sign-ups can be assured of a private room, double occupancy. The last few sign-ups may have to share with a brand new friend or two, so sign up early for best selection! This is an intimate foray, limited to only 60 people, so you can be assured of plenty of face time with everyone! Every meal is delicious and locally sourced, thanks to the efforts of local Chef and Caterer Deb Dawson, and all meals are provided from Friday dinner to Sunday morning breakfast.

Our Chief Mycologist for this foray is Dr. Michael Beug, Professor Emeritus from Evergreen State University, current Chairperson of the NAMA Toxicology committee, and lead author of Ascomycete Fungi of North America. Many other talented amateur mycologists will be on hand to help you along in your studies. BAMS will provide extensive in lab literature. WiFi is available in both the lab and private rooms for consulting online mycological resources.

ACCF attracts self-starters who already have a love for and at least some knowledge of mycology. We request that you be a current member of any CA mushroom club or NAMA to attend. You don’t need to be a California resident to enjoy learning about our western mycota, but you do need to be able to work somewhat independently. The spirit and heart of ACCF is cooperation and collaboration over a mutual love of mycology, learning from and teaching each other. Hope that you can join us!

Cost is $200 per person and includes two nights lodging and all meals from Friday evening through Sunday breakfast. Pre-registration is required - click here for registration form. Neither dogs nor alcohol are permitted at the Abion Field Station. Families welcome. Children under 12 receive a discount. Registration form available here:
