All California Club Foray
January 24-26, 2014

Mushroomers from all over the West gathered for the sixth biannual All California Club Foray January 24-26, 2014 at the Albion Field Station in Mendocino County.

Registration is FULL!

This foray includes comfy, semi-private lodging with private bath, delicious catered meals and a top-notch taxonomy team. It is geared to those with an interest in mushroom taxonomy, but is open to all serious mushroomers from any California mushroom club or NAMA member in good standing. We provide guided forays to the fungally rich Jackson Demonstration State Forest and will work up our collections in the newly refurbished lab space at the Field Station. For those less taxonomically inclined, we are also close by the charming town of Mendocino for shopping, tubbing, whale watching, etc.

Terry Henkel, PhD
Terry Henkel

Terry Henkel received his PhD from Duke University in 2001, and has taught at Humboldt State University (HSU) since 2002. Mycology has been a strong dimension at HSU for over 40 years, and Dr. Henkel has maintained this tradition by offering courses in Microfungi, Ascomycetes and Basidiomycetes, Forest Pathology, and field mycology. Dr. Henkel’s research involves the study of macrofungal biodiversity and ecological relationships in the tropical rainforests of South America’s Guiana Shield, one of the most remote, pristine, and poorly studied tropical regions of the world. Locally, Henkel and graduate students have examined the ecology of indigenous forest pathogenic fungi in coniferous forests of the northern California. This work has led to nearly 60 peer-reviewed publications with numerous student co-authors.

Visit his HSU homepage at http://www.humboldt.edu/biosci/faculty/henkel.html and research website at www.tropicalfungi.org.

Cost is $175 per person and includes two nights lodging and all meals from Friday evening through Sunday breakfast. Pre-registration is required. Neither dogs nor alcohol are permitted at the Abion Field Station.
